Composer and pianist from Argentina

Born in Buenos Aires in 1969, Rodrigo was educated in music under the guidance of Roberto Lara (guitar), Haydée Schvartz (piano), and Ani Grunwald (Audioperceptive Education).  He also studied in the “Conservatorio Municipal Manuel De Falla” and the “Antiguo Conservatorio Beethoven”.

While performing since 1985 as a composer and pianist, Rodrigo created the groups “Los Rodrigo Ratier Trio”, “Vallegrande”, “Atuel” and “La Puerta del Vino” which performed in various scenes in Buenos Aires and throughout Argentina.

In 1997 he settled in Chile subsequently forming the Latin American fusion trio “Sur”, and in 2006 the Nuevo Tango ensemble “Rodrigo Ratier Quintet” which he has continued fronting until present.  His participation in the music medium of Chile includes performances as a session musician and arranger with local recognized jazz figures Among his activities he has appeared regularly in several jazz festivals in Chile, Uruguay and Argentina.

Nowadays his music is played by several musicians around the world, in places like Switzerland, Serbia, Spain, Portugal, USA, Taiwan and Germany, where his works integrates the repertoire of the “Ensemble for the New Chamber Music” at the Dortmund University.

His discography includes “Terra Australis” with the group La Puerta de Vino (Buenos Aires, 1997, Atuel Música), “Sur, fusión jazzística latinoamericana” , with the group Sur (Santiago, Chile, 2006, Atuel Música), “Neurotango” (Santiago, Chile, 2008, Atuel Música) and “Resonancia (Santiago, Chile, 2014, Animales en la Via) with the group Rodrigo Ratier Quintet.
